Hey there! I’ve got a question for you…Have you ever accepted a salary below your expectations because you were AFRAID you’d lose the job? Today, I want to show you why you’re leaving THOUSANDS of dollars on the table when it comes to your final salary.
What’s up, it’s Tommy here, and we’re continuing our mission to give you an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE in your job search…and today’s topic is SPECIAL. Why? Because I’m going to show you how to deliver on the second MAIN promise I make to our Career Commanders: landing your dream job AND getting paid MORE to do it!
I’m tired of seeing job seekers sell themselves short time and time again and leave MONTHS-WORTH of salary on the table. It’s time to change the narrative and show you what REALLY happens in your negotiation process.
Almost every job seeker who initially hires me thinks that their offered salary is set in stone. And if they dare to negotiate it, it may cost them the job. But here’s a little-known truth: Companies EXPECT you to negotiate, and they actually leave wiggle room in their initial offers for you to do so.
Think of it this way: To a company, salary isn’t personal like it is for you. It’s not coming out of the recruiter’s pocket, nor is it draining the accounting department’s personal finances. It’s simply a number to them—a part of a structured Pay Grade System.
Almost every company, no matter the size, uses a Pay Grade System. This system consists of individual Pay Scales that map to certain positions and determine the Minimum, Midpoint, and Maximum annual salary ranges.
Typically, your initial offer is at or just below the Midpoint of your position’s Pay Scale. Why? Because companies strategically leave room for negotiation. Their objective is to keep you lower on the scale to SAVE money. Your goal should be to understand your market value and identify WHERE you fit within that scale to counter appropriately.
Most job seekers don’t understand this, and as a result, they accept an initial offer that WASN’T even meant to be the final offer by the company. But of course, the company will accept it, right? It saves them money!
So, what’s the key to a successful counteroffer? You need to know how to find and communicate your EXACT worth. In my system, you’ll learn not only how to become the TOP CANDIDATE for the job but also how to easily find and use your leverage to propose a specific counteroffer that boosts your salary WITHOUT risking the job.
